“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
The Youth at First Presbyterian
The Youth Ministry at First Presbyterian Church exists to foster devotion, discipleship, and missions in the lives of students. We believe that only when students love God and abide in Christ will they be able to follow him and share the gospel with others. Every aspect of our ministry focuses on how to grow in our relationships with God and with each other. We understand that the middle school and high school years can be some of the most pivotal in a person’s life. Therefore, we address real-life issues by studying God’s Word and living in fellowship with one another. Come be a part of our youth ministry and experience the love of God and the love of His people!
You are invited to enjoy a time of fellowship, worship, and study of Scripture with other middle school and high school students. We meet from 9:45 A.M.-10:45 A.M. in the(across McCallie Ave. from the main church building.)

MikeHaberkorn, Director for Youth
Born in Topeka, the capital of the great state of Kansas, in 1984, my education ( kindergarten through high school) was at Cair Paravel-Latin, a private Christian School. Then, at Kansas State University, I heard God’s call to go to seminary to study to be a pastor. I moved to Dallas in 2007 to attend Dallas Theological Seminary and graduated in 2012 with a Masters of Theology degree. My first day in Dallas, I met my future wife, Mary, although it took me a few months to figure out that she was the one. (I am apparently a bit slow.) We were married in December 2008 and began attending Park Cities Presbyterian Church (PCPC). Mary and I both worked as middle school interns at PCPC until I became the Middle School Director in 2010. An opportunity arose early 2015 for me to accept the position of Youth Director at First Presbyterian Church allowing us to move to Chattanooga. Since we have been here, we have been so encouraged by this church and by working with the students. God has blessed me greatly with the calling to lead the Youth at First Presbyterian Church and I look forward to all that God has in store for this ministry! Jessica Hart, Assistant Director for Youth
I was born in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, but moved to Birchwood, Tennessee with my family when I was six years old; because I was so young when I moved, I really consider the Chattanooga area as home. In middle school and high school, I was an active member of my church’s youth group. I attended every trip, went to every service, and was basically there every time the doors were open. I graduated high school in 2011 and began attending college at UTC in the fall of that year. During my freshman year of college, I got plugged into a student ministry called Cru. I have been able to go on retreats, attend weekly campus meeting, be plugged into a women’s Bible study, and do life with people who were seeking the Lord as I aspires to do. During my years in college, I have able to grow in my personal relationship with Jesus and in my ability to lead and love others well. I loves all things chocolate, good food, New York City, and a good sense of humor. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies in December 2015 and have been looking forward to start working with the youth group at First Presbyterian! You can contact me by email at email@example.com.
First Presbyterian Church operates a “retreat,” Camp Vesper Point, on Lake Chickmauga in Soddy Daisy, TN – about 40 minutes north of downtown Chattanooga. It’s a great place for youth gatherings on the lake and for families staying in the rustic cabins together. The church has several annual activities for youth and families at the lake.
You are welcome to take a tour. See contact information on the website.
